In a previous post I described my unfortunate story about e-gold blocking both of my accounts with them. They were nice enough to unblock my first one, so I thought I would politely ask them to unblock my second one as well and suggested that I would be willing to provide whatever proof of identity they required.
Here is their response to my request:
The block on account #4695664 is permanent and will not be removed.
Thank You,
Due Diligence Unit
And here is my not so polite response:
Is this just some arbitrary decision or is there a particular reason to back it up?
I just find this so called “due diligence unit” rather like a judge, jury and executioner all rolled into one. The very least you people could do is substantiate your actions! Heck even a “we don’t like use of the word ‘golden’ in your account name” would be enough. But this autocratic “the block will be permanent and we aren’t going to tell you why we found you guilty of violating our terms” is just plain arrogant. You aren’t going to do much good by driving away legitimate users of your system. Up until now I thought I was a valued user of the e-gold system – no longer.
From my point of view this is just ridiculous. In my belief the e-gold administration in their hurried effort to placate one tyrant is quickly becoming more and more tyrannical. How else could you describe the words that I’ve received from their “due diligence” unit? They might as well told me to screw off (pardon my french). At least I would have understood that they don’t want me as a customer. Instead they chose to give me the more insulting silent treatment.
What is it that they did not like? That particular account (#4695664) was just opened a week or two ago to be used to accept incoming payment for my GoldenBux.com Paid-to-Click site. Did they think my website design was shabby and I am unworthy of possessing an e-gold account? Did they not like the use of the word “gold” in my account’s name? What is it? Can I get some explanation? Apparently not!
In conclusion, my belief in e-gold is dead. I will look to other institutions who are more true to the libertarian beliefs on which e-gold was supposedly founded.
Anyways, I’m quite irate right now and I’m going to take a break and see if afterwards I can get in touch with someone from their due diligence department. Maybe there is still some hope left, but I doubt it. From the tone of that e-mail I’ll probably be told to screw off once again, the only difference is that this time it will be over the phone.
In light of this, is there anyone who wants to buy the remaining e-gold that I have in my other (personal) account? Give me a shout and we can arrange something. I prefer paypal or alertpay. You’ll find my e-mail address by clicking the “About” button at the top. Thanks.
